In fact, it is the second largest polluter in the world, just after the oil industry. And the environmental damage is increasing as the industry grows. However, there are solutions and alternatives to mitigate these problems. The first step lies in building awareness and willingness to change.

Education on the Boat – A New Hope for Tomorrow (Bangladesh)

How the people of Northeastern regions of Bangladesh are dealing with the climatic adverse condition of “Cholon Beel”, the biggest wetland of this region. The inhabitants of this area are completely depended at the mercy of the environment for survival. The boat is the only means of transportation for communication, the people live well below the property line. The children suffer the most with limited access to education. In 2006, a non-profitable organization came forward with an amazing idea to overcome that situation of these impoverished regions. They tried to use the natural event of these regions – ‘Water’ and ‘Boat’ simultaneously to build up a scheme called “education on the boat “. This efforts are gradually increasing the literacy rate and changing the total socioeconomic scenarios of “Cholon Beel”. It is really an astonishing effort to lift people out of poverty in any given situation within the least cost effective manners by considering climatic and environmental adversities.
