Stalking Chernobyl: exploration after apocalypse (Ukraine)

Realização: Iara Lee;Produção: Caipirinha Productions;Localização: Chornobyl Kyiv Oblast;A documentary that examines the underground culture of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Three decades after the world’s most infamous nuclear disaster, illegal hiking adventurers (known as “stalkers”), extreme sports afficionados, artists, and tour companies have begun to explore anew the mysterious, ghostly landscape, where trees and forest animals have reclaimed land abandoned by villagers. Even as survivors continue to reckon with a dishonest government’s attempts to cover up the extent of the disaster, and as humanity faces new nuclear incidents in place like Fukushima, the Chernobyl site has turned into a bizarre tourist attraction, drawing seekers with a taste for the post-apocalyptic.

Behind the gaze of that adventure, there are hidden many situations such as fears, solutions, gifts and lessons, people, landscapes, pictures taken, music created, videos stored and memories tattooed.

Cruise and the Corona Crisis (Germany)

Then came the lockdown and the film crew, the passengers and the ship’s crew were stuck on the ship. This is a documentary of the nerve-racking 18-day voyage home.

There are no high mountains, ancient forests or picturesque lakes. Hidden, among the plains, fields and forests, inconspicuous, surprisingly charming, semi-wild rivers and brooks. They are a refuge and a source of life-giving water for many species of plants and animals, and at the same time an invaluable ally for the people living on their shores – the film’s protagonists. For these people, nature, symbolized in the film is the river, is an integral part of life – both professional and personal. They are artists, scientists, sportsmen, craftsmen or simply residents whose nearest world was and still is the river. Their stories, combined with the stories of rivers, are a testament to the complicated, universal relationships between man and nature.
