The mysteries of Takht-e Soleyman (Iran)

Direction: Armin Isarian; Production: Armin Isarian; Location: Tahkt-e Soleyman, Azerbaijão, Irão; Every part of the world has a name; a name that represents it; but “Takht –e Soleyman” is not just a place. According to the historical documents and myths it is Zoroaster’s birthplace, Iran’s ancient prophet, and legends say that in a period of history it was ruled by Solomon King. It is a labyrinth of the history of civilization. A site with more than three thousands of age. The beating heart of “Takht-e Soleyman” is a mysterious and legendary lake. Its water is naturally poisoned with arsenic and heavy metals. As a result no living organism can be found there. In religious ceremonies or after victories in wars, kings threw treasures in it, due to its unreachable depth. According to the history and legends, the grail cup of Jesus Christ and original Jerusalem Cross are resting at a depth of more than a hundred meters for many centuries. Direction: Flávio Jácome da Cruz; Production: CM Viana do Castelo / Flávio Jácome da Cruz; Location: Viana do Castelo; The cultural heritage of a population is, in its authenticity, a great richness in a society that, in its identity, congregates the ancient stories and the willingness to perpetuate them. The documentary “Heritage” portrays, in a faithful and genuine manner, the socialization processes and the teaching of cultural and social values, in some of the festivities of Viana do Castelo municipality, in Portugal, with the aim of protecting its cultural patrimony. This festive journey, that assembles the religious and the profane traditions, reinforces the conscience that a population without memory does not exist, and that it is necessary to preserve, to investigate, to reconstruct that memory and divulge our traditions making them a priority. We hope “Heritage” will awake our feeling of belonging and bind us to the defence of sociocultural values and symbols that grant the Portuguese people incommensurable richness.

A Rebentação (Portugal)

Direction: Paulo César Fajardo; Production: Paulo César Fajardo; Location: Praia da Tocha, Cantanhede, Coimbra; On the way to the sea, the surf is the critical moment where the boat crosses the rippling line towards the open sea. “Pouca Sorte” (Short Luck) is that of the fisherman that goes to the sea and brings the net empty, and is also the name of the boat of the Art Xávega’s companion in Praia da Tocha beach. A small fishing community that despite the modernization and conversion in tourist attraction, still conserves some traditions intact. This is their story.

Its skin is coveted for luxury goods of all kinds. Hundreds of thousands of snakes are killed annually in Asia and shipped to the fashion industry in Europe, America, Japan and China. A German-South African scientist now has an idea to control especially the illegal snake trade. An extremely exciting documentary, filmed under difficult conditions, which also documents the lives of the catchers and shows the illegal trade routes. A closer look at the snake skin industry – as it has never been shown.
