Since its first edition in Barcelos, in 2008, the ART&TUR Festival has effectively fulfilled its mission of making the best audiovisual tourism productions made in Portugal and around the world known to the world.
As a forum for sharing experiences, the ART&TUR Festival has achieved high international recognition, thanks to the quality and quantity of films it distinguishes annually, as well as its integration into a worldwide network of similar festivals: the CIFFT (International Committee of Film Festivals of Tourism) which annually chooses the best tourism film worldwide, among all the films that travel through the international circuit of 14 festivals.
As of 2018, the rights to the ART&TUR Festival were transferred from APTUR, to the Centro de Portugal Film Commission (CPFC). Associated with this change, and thanks to an agreement between CPFC and ERT Centro de Portugal, the ART&TUR Festival will from now on be held in the Central Region, with an itinerant nature covering the various municipalities of Central Portugal.

Ovar will host the ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious tourism film festivals. This choice honors us and confirms the national and international recognition of the work we have been developing in valuing our territory, our identity, and our capacity for innovation.
In 2026, Ovar will be a meeting place for creators, experts, and professionals from dozens of countries, who will find here an open, creative city deeply connected to its natural and cultural landscape.
Hosting ART&TUR is more than hosting a major event; it is projecting Ovar to the world and reinforcing the ambition to build a municipality that asserts itself through culture, knowledge, and sustainable tourism.

OVAR is a territory blessed by nature through sceneries carved by the lagoon, the sea and the forest.
With a geostrategic location of excellence, this territory offers fascinating and challenging water areas, namely the Ria de Aveiro (Aveiro Lagoon) and the Barrinha de Esmoriz (Esmoriz Lagoon). The beaches are special and awarded with the Blue Flag. The forest area is large and displays a rich and distinctive biodiversity, being the Parque Ambiental do Buçaquinho (Buçaquinho Environmental Park) a benchmark of excellence.
Ovar is a privileged destination for those who seek natural beauty, the pleasure of open air physical and sports activities and the experiences that nautical activities have to offer, in an integrated and qualified way!
60 km of cycle lanes, 7.5 km of boardwalks and many more of walking routes allow the discovery of small ecosystems, autochthonous fauna and flora and striking landscapes.
There is surfing, sailing, canoeing and stand up paddle tours for you to try, practice or compete. There are Arte Xávega fishermen at work for you to watch and relive the beauty and troubles of this traditional way of fishing.
The municipality of Ovar was also endowed with the brightness and originality of its tiles and the dynamics of its communities, translated into unique popular festivities, ethnographic expressions and religious manifestations. Culture is an agent of differentiation and competitiveness of this territory, where museums and events are attraction factors and locals live intensely and are genuinely welcoming.

It is with great pride that Centro de Portugal is preparing to host another edition of ART&TUR, a landmark event that has managed to gain a prominent place on the international scene in tourism audiovisual productions. The itinerant nature of ART&TUR, which covers the territory of the largest tourist region in Portugal, has proven to be a winning strategy.
At each edition, in different destinations, the festival presents national and international filmmakers with the extraordinary landscape, cultural and heritage diversity of Centro de Portugal – as Ovar will have the opportunity to demonstrate this year. ART&TUR is, therefore, a powerful tool for territorial promotion. The images captured by the directors invite viewers to discover the charms of the region in person. This international projection represents a significant boost for tourism throughout the territory.
The close cooperation between Turismo Centro de Portugal and the municipalities hosting the festival demonstrates how institutional partnerships can be decisive in transforming territories and communities. This union of wills contributes in a concrete and impactful way to the cohesion and sustainability of territories, especially those with low density.

O ART&TUR – Festival Internacional de Cinema de Turismo é membro do Comité Internacional de Festivais de Cinema de Turismo – CIFFT, desde 2008.
Criado em 1989, o Comité Internacional de Festivais de Cinema de Turismo – CIFFT, reúne os Melhores Festivais de Cinema de Turismo do Mundo de quatro continentes na mais prestigiada iniciativa de entrega de prémios e reconhecimento na Travel Video Marketing Industry – o Circuito CIFFT.
Em parceria com os apoiantes da OMT (Organização Mundial do Turismo), ETC (European Travel Commission), CTO (Organização de Turismo das Caraíbas) e CATA (Centro America Tourism Association), o CIFFT trabalha para incentivar os destinos turísticos a alcançar a excelência na promoção dos seus produtos, serviços e locais através do vídeo.
O Circuito CIFFT reúne os Melhores Festivais de Cinema de Turismo do Mundo numa competição no formato de “Championship“ou “League” para reconhecer e premiar os melhores filmes promocionais para destinos, produtos e serviços turísticos.
É uma excelente oportunidade para benchmarking, networking e visibilidade no contexto da Indústria do Turismo.
Os participantes passam por festivais em quatro continentes ao longo de um ano. Em cada etapa, o vídeo é avaliado por um júri internacional que decidirá os vencedores.
